The hot pink and orange on this cake really stand out when placed against a dark chocolate brown backdrop.

Flower Pot Cakes

Looking forward to an early spring! We celebrated my good friend Jen's 40th birthday today with these three adorable little flower pot cakes. Each pot is a different flavor cake covered in terra cotta colored fondant, and topped with chocolate cake crumbs made to look like soil. Each is then planted with a sugar flower made from sugarpaste -- orange cala lilies, a yellow tulip and hot pink gerbera daisies. Inside were red velvet cake, tiramisu and chocolate raspberry. We devoured two and saved one pot for Jen to bring home to her little girls (ages 5 and 3).

Russian Books Cake

My good client Yana ordered this special cake for her father's 70th birthday. The "scroll" is hand-sculpted from sugar and printed with a special Russian poem. The books are entitled with some of her father's favorite authors. This really challenged my writing skills!

Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay

So after booking my second wedding in a row at the newly opened Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay, I thought, "I really need to check this place out on my own." My brides were raving about this stylish new hotel right on the water that offers all-inclusive great wedding packages and an on-site coordinator that is just "to-die-for".

Today I had the pleasure of meeting this coordinator, Nancy Nerhan, and I saw immediately what all the fuss was about. The hotel is totally gorgeous and stylish -- huge, beautiful ballroom, unique dance floor with a huge glass atrium as its ceiling and truly stunning guest suites. You can take a look on-line at this hotel, but truly, this is one of those venues you need to see to appreciate. And most importantly, Nancy is soooo nice, down-to-earth and well-meaning, that you really really need to meet her yourself!

If you want an intimate wedding in a unique yet convenient location, warm & friendly service that is not cookie-cutter -- you need to check this place out. We are proud to be on their preferred vendor list and plan on working with this hotel frequently in the future!

Chocolate Henna Cake

People always want to have a cake that means something to them. It's the one area in the wedding where you can really have some fun and be original, without taking too much risk. Take a look at this idea - inspired by the bride's Indian heritage, this is a modern take on the "henna pattern".

Pink Sugar Tulips

One of our specialties is our hand-made sugar flowers. This is one of my favorite bouquets -- delicate French tulips and roses in a pale pink, with green hydrangea nestled in between.

Chocolate Mosaic Cake

If you didn't get your fill of chocolate on Valentine's Day, feast your eyes on this delectable tower of chocolate! The tiers are covered in chocolate fondant and decorated with bits of chocolate bars in a mosaic pattern.

A Cake "Buffet"

Create a lasting impression at your wedding with this elaborate display of many little cakes, all in the same Tiffany blue color scheme but in different patterns and shapes. Instead of one large cake, you get to look at several fun ones -- the effect is undeniably eye-catching! The wedding was at the historic Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, and the cake had its own dedicated room with signature black and white floor.

Happy Valentine's Day

On this day of romance, I'm reminded of this very romantic wedding cake we made a couple of years ago. It's covered in buttercream and has all sorts of "love" words written on the sides, some in English and some in Italian (the bride's heritage).

Mango Cala Lilies

This is one of my favorite cakes, because it looks so darn delicious! It's covered in a dark chocolate ganache and adorned with mango-colored cala lilies that were hand-sculpted from sugar paste. We brush each flower with petal dust (edible) to give the flowers a life-like look. And isn't this a gorgeous photo? It was taken by the very talented Wendy Maclaurin Richardson, at the Westin St. Francis Hotel. You can see a hint of the San Francisco skyline.

Wedgewood Wedding Cake

This cake was inspired by the blue of Wedgewood China. It has an alternating hexagon and round shape and is covered with rolled fondant. At the base of the tiers is a hand-painted lace technique called brush embroidery.

Baptism Cake

We created this cake for a first communion, but it could easily be for baptism or christening cake.

Antique Lace Cake

This is one of our latest creations -- feel the luxurious texture of this cake decorated with an antique lace finish and accented in golds. This cake was recently featured in a TV filming for the show "Wedding Television" on KMTP. Beverly Yip, owner of full-service linen company, Especially Yours Chair Covers was interviewed about her business and the wedding industry. The shoot took place at the stunning Westin St. Francis Hotel. Photos graciously provided by Ricky Wong.

The beautiful work of Beverly Yip.

Nancy Liu Chin provided gorgeous floral arrangements for the filming.

Red Sugar Roses

Nothing says "I love you" like the red rose. We recently created this 5-tiered wedding cake with fondant draping and hand-sculpted edible sugar roses. The bride's theme was red roses, so we made varying types of sugar roses in different sizes and colors to give it a natural look.

This 5 tiered cake is covered in buttercream and decorated with a fondant drape. Serves 250.

Princess Cake

For the little princess in your life. . .This princess crown cake has become one of our most popular cakes for little girls! The crown is hand sculpted out of sugarpaste and painted in an edible gold luster dust. Serves 40 people.

We often customize the colors for different clients. But the tag is always the same: for my princess! So darling. This one served 50.

Train Table Cake

A train table-inspired cake for 2 year old Morgan, who loves choo-choo trains. He really enjoys riding Cal Train, so we made a mini-version of his favorite train. The signs are all made from sugarpaste, and the tunnel is made from rice krispy treats! Serves 60.

Star Wars Cakes

We created these two cakes for my very good client, Victoria, who has been ordering birthday cakes for her two girls for years. They always have a different theme but they always order their favorite flavor: death by chocolate. This year, they are into Star Wars, so we did an R2-D2 cake and a Death Star cake.
